Oats are extremely nutritious and one of the healthiest grains in the world. Some of the benefits are:
- With 28gr. of carbs, 6 gr. of protein, 4gr of fiber and 150 calories in just ½ cup, oats are packed with vitamins and minerals.
- Oats contain both soluble and insoluble fiber. Research findings show that the soluble fiber in oats, Beta-Glucan, can reduce total and LDL cholesterol, blood sugar levels and insulin response.
- The fiber in oat meal keeps you full for a longer period of time; therefore, it can help you control your weight.
- Oats contain vitamin B6, a co-factor in the production of serotonin in the brain, a neurotransmitter responsible for sending messages to brain cells controlling mood, sexual desire, sleep and so on.
